Upstate Projects: The First Big Push

1900 "Victorian" begging to be a farmhouse

The Progress

The first push of work was to get things ready for my friends to come stay for my 30th birthday in January. That was mostly cleaning, painting, and getting enough furniture to hold people. The rest was smoothed over with wine and food.

Living Room

Some small adventures with IKEA stock availability (notice the missing sofa arms and curtain rods), but some immediate progress.

The Bits:
Sectional: IKEA Vimle in Gunnared Beige (missing the arms in this photo)
Lamp: Vintage rescue from my parents
Rug: IKEA KÖPENHAMN
Wall Shelves: IKEA SVALNÄS Series
Trunk: Owned previously from CB2 (similar)
Chair: IKEA POÄNG in Vislanda black/white (already owned the frame, but bought a new cushion

Dining Room

My dad's table, some folding chairs (for now), and a china cabinet from IKEA pulled the dining room together super quickly. Thank goodness my parents kept the folding chairs they brought to our soccer games 20 years ago!

Master Bedroom

The space filled up quickly! Still working through the details, but here are the basics:
Dresser: IKEA TARVA
Chair: (Already Owned) West Elm Everett in Marled Microfiber Charcoal (Covered in a plaid blanked for kitty fur protection)
Rug: (Already Owned) West Elm Pebbled Jute Rug
Mattress: Tuft & Needle (King)
Bed (Not Shown): CB2 Drommen Acacia Wood Bed
Desk: Vintage drawing table from my fave Furnish Green in NYC

Bathroom

The bathroom is a major project for way later. It got a major scrub, a coat of paint (Sherwin Smokey Plum), and a cabinet for linens (IKEA Hemnes in black-brown)

Bedrooms Two and Three

Bedroom Two (Upstairs):
Paint: Sherwin-Williams
Bed: IKEA TARVA - I love this series because it's un-finished wood. It's a bit of a bear to assemble, but it's inexpensive, real wood, and can be stained/painted easily (which I'm planning to do)
Mattress: Tuft & Needle (Queen)
Nightstand: IKEA TARVA
Duvet: IKEA NYPONROS
Cat: Designers Own (Hi, Riggy!)

Bedroom Three (Downstairs):
Bed: Donated by Mom (similar, similar, similar)
Quilt: Heirloom from my grandma
Stool as Nightstand: (already owned) knockoff *grimaces* real one

The Reception

All humans and animals are loving things so far. Some photos from my birthday ^^, aka the first big weekend at my house!

The Next Phase

The next phase of work is focused on the deck, sunroom, and yard. Trying to get that into a spot that it's happy to hang out for summer / fall.

Read all about those projects here

The other plans include:

New Windows

New kitchen (re-working the layout and bringing in so much more light!)

Adding a half bathroom downstairs

New upstairs bathroom

Hope you'll follow along!
